If you have the app on your phone too, every time you connect via bluetooth the radio and phone will be talking to each other, could be why it knows an update is missing. I agree it's nice for things to just be right. The radio on the 2020 has so much going on Android Auto, Apply Car Play, Navigation, settings for the truck, you have the safety sense and all the other crazy electronics. That right there looks like the simple times, like the old school 4x4's with all mechanical work - easy to fix / hard to break. I'm not sure what beast they put in the T4R? This is an AM radio that does not require a SW update. So I'm assuming it's a SW update to the car. I'm not sure how my car would know that my phone would need to be updated, especially when the app is not running. I have it on my phone, probably to be deleted soon. The next time it shows up I will have to get a screen capture and post it. I work in electronics so I get that SW is taking over the world, I just don't like it because it's mostly broken. Maybe that's why I can't find it anywhere. Yah, there are freaking CPU in my Toilet Paper. So I have very little tolerance for the "we'll fix it later" excuse. You spend a lot of money to create a new PCB or ASIC, then you recall, replace or up-sell to the new product. Sorry if I sound harsh on the SW team, but I come from a world of building hardware and if you screw it up there is not "push" to the field to update it. ![]()
